Cowboy cleanup
Grooming collection goes a little bit country
By Brittany Edwards, Staff Writer
The local male grooming scene has been gaining ground with Regimens,
Billy Jealousy and the soon-to-open Face, a men's salon and spa
in the Mondrian at Cityplace. The trend is also taking root about
200 miles south, in Round Top, a tiny town with a population fewer
than 100. There, Jann and Beau Schwarz run Round Top Natural Soap
Co., a grassroots skin- and body-care business based on their family
farm.
The couple recently introduced Beau's Best Cowboy, the company's
first men's collection, which includes a hand salve, shaving soap,
boot powder and hand and foot creams. Each product is handmade with
all-natural ingredients, from coconut oil to mango-seed butter,
with subtle hints of musk and spice.
Ms. Schwarz originally developed many of the men's products with
her husband in mind, such as the salve to soothe his hands from
rope handling, and the powder to sprinkle in his boots. The collection
is now found in nearly 100 stores in the Texas and Southwest, so
even city slickers can enjoy.
The products, which range from about $6.50 to $16, are available
at Bohemian Angel, 2815 Allen St., Suite 122, or online at www.roundtopsoap.com.
